The Little Red Barn Sanctuary in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was founded on the belief that animals are “someone, not something.” Since 2019, they have rescued thousands of farm animals destined for slaughter and work to educate the public, especially children, about animal sentience, individuality, and lives in factory farms. Through tours, school visits, research, and social media, the sanctuary promotes empathy, compassion, and sustainable living. While the work can be emotionally challenging, it continues to save lives, inspire change, and bridge the disconnect between people and farm animals. P.E.A.C.E. (People Ensuring Animal Care Exists) is a Canadian registered charity and accredited farm animal rescue/support organization in Western Canada, focuses on farmed animal rescue, education, and supporting other sanctuaries through resources, transport, and medical aid, notably operating the first accredited microsanctuary for roosters, and promoting veganism and compassionate living. Founded in 2019, they provide a vital network for farmed animals needing refuge, offering quarantine, medical care, and permanent homes.
