Kootenay Acres Farm Sanctuary is a volunteer-run refuge dedicated to rescuing farmed animals and providing them with lifelong, compassionate care. With a focus on animals with disabilities and complex medical needs, the sanctuary is home to over 70 residents, including blind and vision-impaired sheep, a ewe with spina bifida, sheep with leg deformities, and senior chickens saved from slaughter. Through hands-on care, education, and outreach, they foster deeper connections between people and farmed animals, encouraging compassion and more conscious, ethical choices.
