P.E.A.C.E. was founded in January 2019 by Sarien and Hugo Slabbert after the former’s involvement with two rescues, respectively in October 2018 and December 2018. They realized there was a huge need in British Columbia, Canada, for a rescue organization specializing in farmed animal rescue, and that was how P.E.A.C.E. started.

They are now also a Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) Accredited microsanctuary located in Mission, BC, focusing on animal-centered design and creating a safe space for rescued individuals we were not able to home through our program, P.E.A.C.E. Rescue.

Their vision is a compassionate world for all sentient beings, supported by the ethics of veganism, and modeled by sustainable farm sanctuaries. Their mission is helping farmed animals and farm sanctuaries through resources, rescue and education.
