Salt Beef, a staple in Newfoundland cooking and can usually be found alongside a traditional roast dinner. It is famous in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the rest of the maritime provinces. Salt cured beef is a product made of small pieces of raw beef that are stored in a bucket of pickling salt and placed in a fridge or cold storage. This Salt Beefy gives you tradition without the cow. It has a savoury beef flavour that mimics the taste and texture of cooked chopped beef. Made from soy flour with a complete amino acid profile. Rich in fiber, protein, iron, calcium, and potassium.
Use in recipes requiring beef. Or mix-in to savoury baked goods, add to your burrito or fajitas, tacos, sandwiches, pizzas, stir-fries, stews, noodles and soups, curries and sauces, rice bowls, teriyaki, beans and chilis, or salads. The possibilities are endless!
Hydration: Mix 1 part Salt Beefy with 2 parts water, by weight. Each 500 g pouch yields 1.5kg when hydrated.
